Some have mobilised community action, some have taken the service to the people rather than the other way around; some have priced and tailored their products / services innovatively; while some public agencies have innovated in the adaptation and implementation of government schemes.
The Innovations in Services for Urban Poor, identifies the best amongst these innovations, and goes further beyond. The program has set for itself goals and end-outcomes at multiple levels.

At the first level, the program will celebrate the success and reward the best innovators, from nominations sought from across the length and breadth of the country.
At the second level, the program will document and disseminate these successes through multiple mediums to Government and non-Government agencies across the country, to build wider recognition for the efforts, and inspire many more such innovations.
At the third level, the program will facilitate key linkages to the innovators, to enable them replicate and scale up their successes. Such linkages will include those with – other Government institutions at City, State and National levels, financial institutions, venture capital and angel funders, mentors, technical and marketing experts, other social entrepreneurs, forward and backward market linkages, …. and many more.
At the last level, the program will effectively engage with policy makers and administrators to incorporate the lessons learnt in these innovations in – policy formulation, program design, resource allocations, and project implementation approaches. Special emphasis will be laid on how the innovations can throw light on making pro-poor spatial plans for our cities.
