
Serving the urban poor, through sustainable enterprises that also achieve social development objectives – is the new frontier of social entrepreneurship.
Such leaders – individuals and institutions – understand the various manifestations of urban poverty. They see challenges and problems as opportunities, and in the process create value and improve the lives of vast number of urban poor.
India Urban Space Foundation embarks on a nation-wide exercise – ‘Innovations in Services for Urban Poor Awards Program’, to identify, document, reward and celebrate the success of these innovators.
Nominations are invited from wide spectrum of organizations – NGOs, Community organizations, Government agencies, micro enterprises and SMEs, large corporates, et al. The best of entries will be selected by an eminent independent jury, to be awarded a cash prize and citation at the hands of national leaders.
A Handbook of Innovations for Urban Poor will be published and the successes widely disseminated to encourage replication, and larger scale impact. The program will help the innovators establish linkages with funders, venture capitalists, marketers, experts and Government agencies, and thereby open up new vistas of growth.
