To name a few specific activities IUSF has been engaged in over the past two years -

  • Organised IndiaUSP 2006 at Goa, as a forum bringing together large number of policy makers, planners, and practitioners focusing on issues related to urban planning, and spatial aspects of city management. Read more…..
  • Organised IndiaUSP 2007 at Mumbai - India's largest ever event on urban issues in partnership with the Ministry of Urban Development, GoI. The event witnessed participation of 60 cities, 73 exhibitors, 800 delegates and 12,000 visitors. While cities showcased their individual vision, investments plan, and flagship projects, private sector players exhibited their offerings, services, and innovations. Twin track workshops over 4-days comprehensively covered all aspects of urban planning, development, and management. The Policy Dialogue was India’s first intense engagement on the issue of guaranteed land title in urban India.   • Organised Urban Planning and GIS conference in Rajasthan in June 2008 - Closely working with GoR, IUSF brought together the leadership from over 50 small and medium towns of Rajasthan to orient them on issues concerning urban planning, and use of GIS technologies in planning. Read more…..
  • Published India's only compendium on policy approaches and treatise on the issue of guaranteed land title. The book titled ' Ground Rules - Challenges to the Implementation of Security of Land Title in Urban India', has been disseminated widely across the country. Read more…..
  • Advising and supporting Jaipur Development Authority in preparation of its Jaipur Master Plan 2025, using innovative approaches and rigor that has hitherto never been practiced. The only one of its kind, this Master Plan provides for and integrates plans at a district level, urban metropolitan region level, and then right down upto ward level. The plan provides a spatial manifestation of a well articulated development strategy, integrating land-use, transport, socio-economic development, housing, environment and other considerations.
  • Launched India’s first Urban Implementation Awards - An initiative that recognizes city governments for excellence in implementation of urban projects. Recognized by the Ministry of Urban Development, the three awardees were provided the opportunity by IUSF to participate in the World Cities Summit, & International Water Week, held at Singapore in June 2008.
  • Providing critical advice to Govt. of Rajasthan for implementing key initiatives in the urban sector, such as - State Level Spatial Data Centre, Creation of Spatial database for small towns, Preparation of master plans for over 15 small and medium towns, raising municipal debt to fund infrastructure for five fast-growing small cities, etc.
