As Government of India’s apex institution in the sector, Ministry of Urban Development guides a wide range of programs and policies in the urban sector, coordinates the activities of various Central Ministries, State Governments and other nodal authorities and monitors the programmes concerning all the issues of urban development. As a partner to India Urban Space Foundation in its work, MoUD guides and supports wide range of programs and activities of IUSF. Outlined by an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding between MoUD and IUSF, the partnership extends to recognising the work, advocating key policies, practices and standards to states and civic agencies, building capacity of ULBs, engaging proactively with the private sector and other urban institutions, rewarding excellence and innovation, etc.

IUSF constantly aligns its strategies and action plans with the policies and strategic priorities of MoUD.
